Md. Jobairul Islam
Medical Physicist | Executive Director, GAMPER | Science Committee Member, AFOMP

Md. Jobairul Islam is the Founder and Executive Director of the Global Alliance for Medical Physics Education and Research (GAMPER), a global initiative committed to strengthening medical physics education and research, especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). He currently works as a Medical Physicist and Radiation Control Officer at Labaid Cancer Hospital and Super Speciality Centre in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

He holds both B.Sc and M.Sc degrees in Medical Physics from Gono University, Bangladesh. As part of his postgraduate training, he completed his M.Sc thesis and clinical internship at the University Medical Centre Mannheim, Medical Faculty of Heidelberg University in Germany. He has also undergone advanced clinical training in radiation oncology in Bangladesh, India, and Germany.

Mr. Islam’s core areas of expertise include Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT), advanced radiotherapy planning and dosimetry, and radiation protection. Dedicated to education and capacity-building, he has been supervising undergraduate and graduate students in clinical medical physics research projects since 2023.

A frequent presenter at national and international conferences, he is also a contributor to peer-reviewed journals and congress proceedings. Mr. Islam actively participates in organizing scientific events such as workshops, webinars, and professional conferences.

He currently serves in multiple professional leadership roles, including:

  • Secretary, Bangladesh Medical Physics Society (BMPS)

  • Science Committee Member, Asia-Oceania Federation of Organizations for Medical Physics (AFOMP)

  • Executive and Life Member, Bangladesh Cancer Society (BCS)

  • General Member, American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM)

  • Associate Member, Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM)

  • Associate Member, European Society of Radiology (ESR)

Mr. Islam is also a Scientific Committee Member for the upcoming IUPESM World Congress on Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering 2025, which will incorporate EPSM/ABEC 2025, ICMP 2025, and AOCMP 2025. He has contributed as an abstract reviewer for the 24th Asia-Oceania Congress of Medical Physics (AOCMP), 22nd Southeast Asia Congress of Medical Physics (SEACOMP), and the IUPESM World Congress 2025.
